Here are a few things to consider if you are in the market for a brand new website, or even just a re-design of your existing one:

• How good is their website?  If it isn’t inspiring or they make excuses for why it doesn’t look good, the chances are that they won’t be able to create the website you want.
  
• Are they web designers with a proven track record?  Or are they students, part timers or IT companies who want to break into web design?  If you choose the latter you will be up against their inexperience right from the start.
  
• Do they disclose their full contact details or are they just working from mobile phones?  If it’s the latter they could well get switched off at the first sign of any problems.
• How many websites have they already produced and how good are they?  If you can’t view them the chances are they aren’t real.
• How well can you find their website using the major search engines?  If you can’t find them, the chances are they won’t be able to get you found either.
  
• Do they offer hosting and domain name support?
  
• Can you get testimonials from their customers?
  
• Can they offer additional services such as graphics, photography, illustration and copywriting services?
